Flaming June

Not a weather report but a painting!. No one would want to be outside posing for a painting in this weather. The wind had a cold feel to it, I hope that the young birds are doing ok. Will their parents be able to find food for them?

After completing the H&S checks I had a walk around St, Aidans. Lots of wildlife, despite the cold weather.

Lots of flowers including orchids, and reed buntings singing from every vantage point.

I then drove to Fairburn Ings and walked down to Lin Dike hide.

A family of canada geese and several lapwings were on a flash just before the hide.
From the hide I saw a common sandpiper

then a spoonbill arrived

in the distance, a cattle egret was standing on a cows back

a little egret came to feed

a lapwing and avocet also came close for a feed

a shelduck family were slowly going around the edge of the water

A cold but pleasant hour.
