Black necked grebe at North Duffield Carrs

I joined Ian in Garganey hide about 1350, he had just arrived in the hide and had found a black necked grebe. My 79th bird on the reserve this year.

the grebe was a long way off and the weather was not brilliant, hence the poor picture.

Still a few pintail on the reserve.

Something disturbed the birds and some came a bit closer to the hide.

The goldeneyes and scaup remained at a distance

About 3:30 I walked back to the Geoff Smith hide.

On the scrape 10 male tufted ducks were not moving far away from a single female. A pair of little grebes and a coot were also present.

A pleasant couple of hours, despite the rain.
