Ruddy shelduck at St. Aidans

After completing the health and safety checks at Fairburn and St. Aidans, I decided to have a walk around the main lake.

The sun was shining, but there was a cool breeze. Lots of birds about on the reserve. I could hear but not see sedge warblers. Several swifts were hunting low over the water, and a single house martin flew past. 2 common terns were out fishing and getting chased by black-headed gulls and lesser black backed gulls. Several families of canada and greylag geese and feeding neat them a single ruddy shelduck, year tick 175.

I came across these dragonflies on the causeway.

A family of mute swans were feeding near the causeway. I have not seen many swan families this year.
