Cuckoo

 After completing the usual H&S checks at the Aire Valley reserves, I drove to Blacktoft.

I took over from Edd in reception, so that he could get on with helping the other wardens.


As you can see from the above photo of Marshland lagoon  it was a grey day with the odd shower of rain.

Marshland had waders to offer



at least 6 green sandpipers and 2 spotted redshanks. There always seems to be young mallard ducklings


Reedling had a great white egret


First had the usual marsh harrier on top of a bush


Meanwhile from reception I saw this fox, walking around the edge of the lagoon


was it after the tufted duck family





Woodpigeons are often sat in the elderberry bush in front of reception, today it was a young cuckoo.
