A busy day at Blacksoft Sands. Lots of visitors and they were able to enjoy watching marsh harriers displaying. Wigeon, teal, mallard, shoveler, gadwall and shelduck were on the lagoons, whilst snipe were on several islands, having a nap.
4 white fronted geese were feeding on the stubble feeds just outside the reserve and then came on to Townend and Singleton lagoons for a bathe and a drink.
The reserve closes at 5.45 at the moment and I spent the last half an hour in Singleton Hide, with Pete, Masha and 2 visitors. Not a lot of marsh harrier activity but good views of barn owl, merlin and short eared owl hunting.
