A little on the misty side as I walked along the Riverside Trail at Fairburn Ings on Thursday morning.
Still a few bits of colour in the vegetation.
Ivy still was attracting insects
You might just about be able to see the green insect on one of the top flowers!
There were lots of birds about. Great spotted woodpecker, jay, dunnock, long tailed, blue and great tits robin, wren, fieldfare, redwing and lots of blackbirds.
On the water were tufted duck, gadwall, goldeneye, mallard, goosander, mute swans, coots. Great crested grebes were near the footpath.
I counted over 500 shovelers on the various bits of water. Most of them were feeding together in groups.
I guess that this is where the fire was during the hot spell.
I also had a walk along the footpath that used to lead to the hide at Lindike. Lots of mute swans, lapwings, black headed gulls, cormorants and a great white egret.
