I arrived at Blacktoft at 2pm. From Singleton hide I could see that the team of staff and volunteers were hard at work in the reed bed.
I was pleased to be able to see that the mute swan family were doing well
a single black tailed godwit landed in the left hand channel.
No birds on either Townend or First.
Lots of ducks on Xerox plus 4 snipe, 1 dunlin and a ruff.
Marshland was my last stop.
I could just see the barn owl inside its box.
A water rail ventured out of the reedbed into the afternoon sunshine.
a magpie came in for a wash
lots of redshanks feeding, this one came close to the hide.
this snipe was feeding even closer to the hide
